Phase 1
It is the mission of The Florida House Experience to provide long term treatment at an affordable price. We provide a continuum of care that is intensive, comprehensive treatment services to individuals who suffer from substance abuse and mental illness. We promote cost effective behavioral health care services, cooperative working relationships with behavioral health care organizations within the community, and establish a position of leadership in the delivery of private integrated comprehensive services in South Florida. Our primary goal is to assess and meet the behavioral health care needs of our community by adapting to changes in healthcare.

Phase One:
During the first phase of the Program, patients are exposed to a daylong schedule of clinical activities. During Phase One, the patient’s short and long-term needs are assessed and a comprehensive treatment plan is begun.
Patients are closely supervised during Phase One.
Residential Day/Night treatment is designed for patients who are in need of intensive clinical services, but ready to live independently in a supportive, structured community housing environment. Admissions are reviewed and approved by either the Clinical or Program Director for appropriateness. Patients are challenged to build a network of healthy, sober supports within the local community as well as within the patient population. Many of our patients have participated in other treatment programs and have been referred to us for additional intensive clinical care because they continue to lack the internal resources necessary to maintain sobriety while living independently.
Residential Day/Night treatment includes a minimum of twenty-five hours of therapy per week. Therapeutic interventions consist of a combination of psycho educational, and process group therapy, individual counseling and family work. Patients are assigned a primary therapist who will work with them throughout the treatment continuum here at FHE. This continuity allows the therapeutic relationship to develop and continue over time. Patients are challenged to confront their own negative behaviors and thought patterns which keep them trapped in the cycle of addiction, and to examine their roles in the dynamics of their own family system, and how those roles inhibit their recovery. In this phase of treatment patients are encouraged to try out newly learned behaviors and patterns of thinking by which they assume responsibility for themselves and their recovery. They are encouraged to challenge their character pathology by pursing vocational opportunities that develop their recovery skills.
Residential Day/Night treatment also includes recovery support services aimed at helping the patient to integrate, or re-integrate, into a sober lifestyle and to become a contributing member of society. These services include budgeting skills, grocery shopping, food preparation, housekeeping and laundry skills, job search skills, education regarding medications and proper self-administration, exercise and healthy leisure time activities, and support connecting the patient with the sober community.
