How much does treatment cost?
The cost of treatment varies depending on program and length of stay. Since individuals enter treatment at differing phases no single dollar amount can be reflective for all individuals. We have several programs which are intended to be affordable for most individuals. Please call our admissions office at 866-421-6242 for more information.
How long is the program?
Several programs exist within the Florida House Experience and clients enter a particular program based on clinical recommendations. Each program therefore has a variable length of stay. Typically residential treatment is between 30 and 90 days. Intensive outpatient treatment is between 30 and 60 days as clinically indicated. Innovations transitional program is 30 days and residents remain in the Florida House sober living upward of a year.
Does my insurance cover treatment?
Certain insurances plans cover portions of treatment. Some cover detox and residential while other plans offer only outpatient benefits. Our admissions personnel are trained to perform utilization reviews within minutes. Please call our admissions office at 866-421-6242; staff is available around the clock.
Do you detox individuals?
Yes we do. Our clients are medically monitored safely and effectively through the detox process. We will have our staff meet you or your loved ones at the airport and transport you to our campus. Be assured, from the moment you land you will be in our care.
How old are most of the residents?
We are an over 18 facility however the ages of residents varies. Our community consists mostly of 18-35 year olds with a somewhat changing trend. Larger populations of older adults are now beginning to seek treatment services.
Are there more males or females?
At any given time there are usually more males in treatment as compared to females. The approximate percentage breaks down to 60% male and 40% female.
What if I’m from out of state?
Most of our clients entering treatment are from out of state. Once you call our admissions office and initiate the process the rest is simple. We make this decision easier for you and guide you every step of the way. We will make your travel arrangements and have our staff meet you at the airport. Should you require an escort for support and assistance we will make those arrangements too.
Is the Florida House Experience a locked facility?
We are not a locked facility and do not resemble an institution in any way. Our campus is extremely safe and secure with staff on the campus 24 hours a day. In addition we have security cameras throughout the campus to ensure your safety and peace of mind. We take your safety very seriously and are committed to providing a safe and secure environment conducive to your recovery.
Can I leave the premises?
In the residential level of care clients are not allowed to leave the property without a staff person. All outside activities and excursions including grocery shopping are under staff supervision. In addition clinical staff can approve passes for clients to leave premises unaccompanied. Our program is customized to your needs and each case is handled on an individual basis.
Can I have visitors?
Visitation at the residential level of care is also a clinically driven decision and made at the therapist’s discretion. Family members and loved ones are invited to participate in the treatment process and clients can put in any additional passes which are approved at the clinical team’s discretion.
Do I have to cook my own meals or are they provided?
At the residential level of care all meals are provided for you through JoJo’s Café and overseen by a licensed nutritionist. In addition, for those clients wanting to practice and expand their culinary skills staff is available to take individuals grocery shopping and all the residences are equipped with full service kitchens.
Do I have my own room?
All our residents have a roommate and our view is that having one’s own room can foster isolative behaviors. Our philosophy is to promote a feeling of community and wellbeing and this most often happens when individuals share common living areas, chores and ultimately life experiences.
Can I bring my cell phone?
You can bring your cell phone and you are permitted access to it depending on your level of care. In residential treatment you are not permitted access to your personal cell phone but you are allowed access to a telephone to make personal calls. These decisions are clinically driven and residential clients are able to submit passes for approval. Phone time is best kept to a minimum for clients just beginning treatment as they should have few distractions. Our clinical staff maintains regular contact with family members engaged in the treatment process with the client. As clients transition through the different levels of care they are permitted use of their cell phones.
Can I bring my laptop?
Clients can bring their laptops and at the residential level of care are allowed to use their laptop with therapist permission. Individuals can put in for passes to use their laptops at designated times. As clients transition through the different levels of care they are permitted to have their laptops and the campus supports Wi-Fi.
Can I bring my IPOD?
Yes you can bring your IPOD or MP3 player and have access to it at all levels of care. Also all apartments are equipped with flat screen TV’s.
Can I work while in treatment?
During the residential phase of treatment clients are engaged in clinical services during the day. At the IOP level of care residents are required to begin seeking employment in an effort to re-integrate back into society while maintaining a structured social and living environment. There are sign in/out checks are curfews and drug testing policies continue to be enforced.
Is there a pool?
Yes, there are 2 swimming pools that are gender specific. Clients in residential treatment are permitted to use the pool between the hours of 3:30-dusk during the week and more frequently on the weekend.
Are males and females in groups together?
Most groups are gender specific and based on relevant issues and specialties. Mixed gender groups are also clinically motivated decisions and pertain to subject matter at hand. Primary therapist individual caseload groups are mixed gender.
What about 12-step meetings?
On the Florida House Experience campus we have The Room which is a private 12-step community self help meeting twice a day. These meetings are open to all our residents at every level of care as well as to our alumni family. In addition, clients submit passes to attend outside meetings with their sponsor and sober supports in the spirit of expanding social networks within the recovery community.
Can I bring my car?
Residential program clients are not permitted to drive their vehicles. As you transition to a lower level of care you can use your car and park it safely on the campus.
Is there public transportation?
The facility is located along the major bus routes and very close to the tri-rail station. Clients who do not have a vehicle or have lost their driving privileges as a result of their addiction get a bicycle or moped and are able to get around town with ease.
What time is curfew?
Curfew is strictly enforced and for residential clients is 10PM Sun-Thur and 12PM on weekends. For all other levels of care the curfew is an hour later.
When can I work out?
The Florida House Experience is partnered with Power House Fitness and residential clients have access to the facility three times a week. They are driven there and back and are under staff supervision. Clients at all other levels of care are allowed to work out when their schedule permits.
What about my medications?
Any medications you arrive with will be secured and all medications will be dispensed by nursing staff on a daily basis.
Can I bring my cat/dog?
Sorry pets are not permitted on our property.
What is the longest time a resident has stayed in treatment?
Many of our residents have remained on campus upward of a year and a half after which some move to off-campus graduate housing.
Will I be drug tested?
At the residential level of care clients are drug tested and/or breathalyzed daily. As clients transition through the program testing becomes more randomized and structure decreases. For any new admissions, regardless of level of care, drug testing will be done daily until clinically determined to be less frequent.
Do I need to bring towels and sheets?
All linens and towels are provided to our clients.
What about laundry?
There are gender specific laundry facilities available for all residents to use.
Can I go to the beach?
The Florida House Experience is located less than a mile from the beautiful beaches of Southeast Florida. Our staff takes our residential clients to the beach once a week as well as for other supervised recreational activities such as bowling and mini-golf.
