Dr. Aldo Morales, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Morales has been in private practice in Palm Beach and Broward counties for the past twenty years. His interest in psychopharmacology originated with an undergraduate degree from Rutgers College of Pharmacy. After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine degree he completed a four-year Psychiatry residency with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
With board certifications in both Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, Dr. Morales is an active voice in promoting the message that addictive disorders do not result from moral failings, but rather from treatable brain dysfunctions. Dr. Morales is a consultant for various state agencies and for Major League Baseball.

Robin Abu-Moustafa, Clinical Director – MSW   Robin has over sixteen years of experience working in addiction treatment. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Texas and a Master of Social Work degree from Yeshiva University in New York. Robin also holds a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Nova University. Her administrative and clinical experiences are the motivating force behind the clinical philosophy of Sunlight Recovery. Robin’s passion is family therapy. She has improved our services to include a Family Workshop, which supports family members in identifying and breaking enabling patterns.

Ed Weber, Program Director – LCSW, BCD, CAP   Ed has worked in the addiction treatment field since 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Studies from Empire State College in New York, as well as, a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University in New York. Mr. Weber is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a Florida Licensed Certified Social Worker. He is also a Certified Addiction Professional in the state of Florida. Ed specializes in dual diagnosis, crisis intervention, as well as, family work. As Sunlight Recovery’s Program Director, Ed harnesses his past administrative and clinical experiences to enhance, energize and improve the quality of care being provided within our continuum of care.

Donnell Neal, Director of Support Services – CBHT, CRSS Donnell has worked in the addiction treatment field since 2000. He is a Certified Behavioral Health Technician and a Certified Recovery Support Specialist in the state of Florida. During his career, Donnell has worked as resident manager, case manager and a group facilitator. Donnell skillfully assists the team to stabilize the community living environment as the Director of Support Services. His clinical and administrative experiences provide direction and focus to the support staff.  Donnell’s energy, integrity and professionalism have set the direction of the resident managers on continuous improvement and growth to assure quality patient care at Sunlight Recovery.


James J.  Nicholson, Therapist – LMHC, CAC, Certified Hypnotherapist and Neurolinguistic Practitioner   James has worked in the field of addictions and mental health for over thirty-five years. He has worked in most modalities of treatment, including private practice. He holds a Master’s Degree from New York Institute of Technology and has completed postgraduate work in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Jimmy is trained in hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, transcendental meditation and transactional analysis.  He has an eclectic approach and prefers cognitive therapy that supports the Sunlight Recovery Mission and the need to address the patient’s cognitive distortions.

Shannon Hawke, Therapist – MPA  Shannon has worked in the mental health field for thirteen years. She has an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Counseling. Shannon has worked with adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders, and their families.  Shannon provides individual, group and family therapy at Sunlight Recovery. Her dedication to assisting clients in reclaiming their lives from drugs and alcohol comes from a belief that the substance abuse is a symptom of underlying issues. Shannon brings to our mission the belief that through self-awareness more positive life choices can be made.

Jim Westbrook, Therapist- BS, CAP, NCACII, ICADC, LCADC (NJ) Jim has worked in the field of substance abuse for over 16 years with an array of experience ranging from employment in detoxification settings,  hospital based Intensive Outpatient Programs and renowned addiction and dual diagnosis treatment facilities nationwide. Using his wealth of knowledge and vast experience in the field of addiction and mental health treatment Jim moved to Chapel Hill NC to take on the responsibility of developing an Intensive Outpatient Program for the local mental health agency. His experience has afforded him the opportunity to work at some of the nation’s premier treatment facilities where his dedication and commitment has always been a valued asset. Jim has also had the privilege of working with many noted pioneers in the field of addiction counseling and his effectiveness as a therapist as well as his experience at program development brings him to the Florida House Experience where he is an asset to the team of professionals.


Joan M. Duncan, Therapist – MSW   A veteran of over 31 years in the field of Chemical Dependency and Mental Health, Joan is a graduate (BA) of Hunter College in New York City and Hunter College School of Social Work where she obtained a Masters degree in Social Work. Joan entered the field of chemical dependency in 1978 in an entry level position at Phoenix House in New York. There Joan received training in both Structural and Strategic Family Therapy and the relationship of family patterns, dynamics and dysfunction to addiction and recovery processes. Joan progressed to the level of Program Director by the time she left in 1985 to take a position as the Director of Family Therapy at a New Jersey treatment program (Monmouth Chemical Dependency Treatment Center). There, Joan developed and implemented one of the first residential Programs for family members of patients in treatment.  At the same time, Joan became an associate at The Institute for Counseling and Training (9 years). The Institute founded by Dr. Janet G. Woititz, a leader in the ACOA movement provided traditional therapy not only for ACOA’s and recovering addicts/alcoholics but individuals, couples and families. Joan served as the Program Director for Comprehensive Family Health Services, a new agency providing services to individuals and families affected by Alcoholism and Drug Addiction.   In conjunction with the Bergen County Council on Alcoholism and Addiction and The Bergen County Special Services District, Joan worked with emotionally disturbed adolescents and their families. After relocating to Florida in 1999, Joan returned to primary care for Chemical Dependency and has worked as both a clinician and Program Director for several programs.
