Alumni and Aftercare
A Continuum of Care in Your Lifelong Recovery Journey
Recovery and sustained sobriety is a lifelong process and does not – and should not – end upon completion of any addiction treatment or recovery program. For this reason, The Florida House Experience team is dedicated to providing a continuum of long-term care, support and guidance that does not end at discharge. Our graduating Alumni continue to be active members of our ‘Florida House Family,’ attending weekly meetings, participating in community events, and serving as role models to newcomers struggling with the disease of drug addiction or alcoholism.
The Florida House Alumni is a family.
We are one of the few treatment centers that have a fully functioning Alumni group. The Alumni coordinator, Tim Roberto can be reached at any time 888-342-1461.We recognize that the roll of the Alumni is very important. As our new family members are closing in on completing their treatment, they are introduced into the Alumni family. They are encouraged to attend our local and very successful weekly alumni meeting from 7:00pm to 9:00pm every Wednesday at New Horizons. We get to experience a positive environment that has a very strong recovery message & really great food. It’s catered by JoJo’s café, our upscale café.
The Alumni are very proud of the fact that our members have between one month and multiple years in recovery. Speakers also come in from the outside recovery community to share their experience, strength & hope. We also have a monthly family get together that always has a big turnout. Whether it’s bowling, snorkeling or just going out for pizza, it always comes back to that we are family.
Those returning back to their home states are kept in touch with even more because of the distance, which is done via the telephone, our Alumni newsletter and a social media network www.facebook.com/TheFHexperience.
We are always there for each other dedicating our time and love, always striving for better communication and connection to each other. “Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
The Florida House Experience Alumni Services and Aftercare
At The Florida House Experience, we continue to provide support to each individual’s long term addiction recovery through the lasting bonds they have built with our dedicated staff. Our staff fully understands the breadth of the journey you have overcome. The battle with addiction is difficult and the strength you have developed to make a change for the better is the primary source of your ability to stand tall as an Alumni of our addiction treatment programs.
Alumni are always welcome back to our campus and to maintain communication with our staff. Not only have we succeeded in seeing you on your way to long lasting sobriety, but we have developed a deeper connection with you. The Florida House Experience will always welcome you as a member of our ‘Florida House Family.’ We applaud your new found ability to live and lead a sober way of life as the natural way of life, and encourage you to enlighten others about the positive change you have made in your life, especially for those who are just beginning their journey to addiction recovery.
Tim Roberto, Florida House Alumni Coordinator, 888-342-1461
It’s my honor and a privilege to introduce myself to you as the “Florida House Experience” Alumni Coordinator. I am in my 5th year now here at the “Florida House Experience”. I arrived here as a patient in April of 2007 and took full advantage of what they had offered me at that time which was like nothing else I have ever seen or experienced. I had already been to multiple treatment centers and failed. By November I was a changed man and to be honest a true miracle compared to where I came from.
I was offered the opportunity to work for the “Florida House Experience” in November of that same year and it’s been nothing but a phenomenal experience. Today with the full support of the “Florida House Experience “the Alumni is thriving. It is an incredible way to offer high quality after care to our patients that have gone through our rigorous treatment process. We meet every Wednesday night from 7-9pm for food and fellowship. We are family. More than 60 – 70 people attend our weekly alumni meeting every Wednesday night to get want they need & want, because we are a fully functional & supportive Alumni program. We have a monthly Family get together that can be anything from bowling to snorkeling.
Today I start my mornings off with one goal in mind, who can I help today. I can only keep what I so freely give away. I am forever grateful & will continue to pay it forward. My relationship starts as soon as a new member of The Florida House Experience family arrives at Detox. I go down to our Detox personally to visit. This bond is important for them as soon as possible to assist him or her to feel safe and secure. I can do that by sharing my experience, strength & hope with them. My story is my greatest asset. I showed up at The Florida House Experience homeless. I had lost everything including my family & friends. I have been so blessed from the day my feet hit the ground on campus. I am forever grateful for what The Florida House Experience has done and given me. What I have today is something I always wanted but just didn’t know how to get it. Freedom from bondage. My passion and my duty today is to keep carrying the message of hope to the still sick and suffering Alcoholic and Addict that still suffer one person at a time. My wish would be to meet every single one of you, but until then. Wishing you a successful life with contentment and peace.
